Elevate your team's success: Energy management with Outspoken speaker Jill Payne

It’s no secret that most of us have experienced distress in the past few years, whether emotional or physical or both. In fact, during the height of the pandemic more than one-third of Americans reported “high levels of psychological distress,” according to one report from the Pew Research Center. This distress feeds into every aspect of our lives—home, work, and sense of self and purpose. The way we work, where we work, and even why we work has changed for good in our workplaces, so what can we do to adapt? How can we shift our mindsets and empower ourselves and others to begin to thrive again?

In comes Energy Management. Energy Management (EM) is a framework that provides us with the tools and aptitudes to shape our daily experience for maximum capacity regardless of the challenges that may come along. This framework allows us to recognize the positive choices we can make in managing our personal and professional lives. Those choices allow us to be connected, capacious and confident, even in the face of uncertainty, for ourselves and others.

In uncertain times, and even in times of perceived certainty, our wellness determines our capacity to live with confidence, courage, and joy. So it stands to reason that ensuring our overall wellness is central to our ability to live out our truest and most capacious life — to show up well for ourselves and for others. —Jill Payne

With over 15 years of life and academic research, Outspoken speaker Jill Payne established Be A Dime Energy Management and began transforming individuals and companies all over North America with her framework that establishes a dynamic of care and positive workplace culture within organizations large and small.

Why does this matter now?

A Forbes article last year reported that burnout is at an all-time high. Some key findings:

  • Over half (52%) of survey respondents are experiencing burnout in 2021—up from the 43% who said the same in Indeed’s pre-Covid-19 survey.

  • Fifty-three percent of Millennials were already burned out pre-pandemic, and they remain the most affected population, with 59% experiencing it today. However, Gen-Z is now neck and neck, as 58% report burnout—up from 47% who said the same in 2020.

Combating burnout is a challenge at every level of any organization. And if individuals feel burnt out in the workplace, it’s undeniable that overall team success will suffer. Jill shares the mantra that “A team is only as strong as the individuals.” Because of this, her approach to training employees and employers about Energy Management focuses on three key components:

  1. How we move and use our body

  2. What we focus on as we travel through our day

  3. What stories we create as part of our internal and external dialogue

Implementing these principles on a team level allows individuals to show up on the “highest channel possible” which Jill says is truly the only way to create a positive impact on your company’s culture. Her corporate training invigorates people’s capacity not only for work but in everyday life in general. Additionally, her energy management strategies help create a sense of team and community in an ever-changing workplace landscape. Some team members still work from home, while some have returned to the office, which can create a sense of displacement and isolation among many.

“There is less physical interaction, however, more now than ever we need to be a part of a team,”  Jill explains. “EM allows groups to come together with a common philosophy and language. Feeling part of the team is a top priority to thrive in this time.”
